Sprint Filter won in the European Rally Championship (ERC) alongside The Racing Factory Team and Finnish driver Teemu Suninen, who secured the title at Rali Ceredigion, the British round of the ERC, driving a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2. A composed, focused second-place finish, alongside co-driver Antti Haapala, was all he needed to clinch the crown, and he did it with one round of the season still to run.

Suninen’s title came against the odds. He arrived in Wales unwell, having felt sick since Wednesday, and by his own admission lacked experience on the damp asphalt that defines Rali Ceredigion’s special stages. That inexperience showed late in the rally, when he spun in a tricky, less-than-dry corner and picked up light damage to his Fabia RS Rally2. True to the discipline that wins championships, the Finnish crew kept their composure, continued, and closed out the event by winning the final super special stage — beaten all weekend only by Kris Meeke and Noel O’Sullivan Jr., who weren’t even contesting the overall ERC title.
