Joan Mir, wearing the colors of the Official Honda Team for the first time, tells us what his goals and feelings are wearing the colors of the Repsol Honda Team for the first time. Mir began by saying “Every rider has imagined himself with these colours”.

His first impressions during testing were positive, he had to get used to a new way of working but thanks to the new team a good job was done; it felt like the first day back in school.

Mir is a rider who loves new challenges and will always try to adapt with his optimism giving his best.

Physically, Mir reveals that he is preparing as well as he does every year, trying to give more and more intensity to his physical work. this year I probably am doing more physical training than technical training because I think that I will need it.

The first thoughts when entering a Historic Team like that of Repsol Honda Team

Mir had good sensations entering the Honda team; he reveals that every rider has imagined himself wearing these colours, so being a part of that makes me really proud to arrive at such a sweet time in my career.

Speaking of Honda Repsol Team colors Mir says wearing these colors puts a bit of pressure but you have to try to be as fast as possible to bring these colors where they deserve.

Regarding sharing the box with Marc Marquez Mir reveals that is a true challenge, because he’s the best rider on the grid and the one with the most titles. “You can share some data with him and you can learn a lot from the inside, but if you don’t perform in the way that you want, you always have a tough rider on the other side of the garage”. During the test I could make some laps with him and also share some data. 

During the test, he did some laps with Marquez and shared some data with him. Mir tells us that Marques has a unique way of riding the bike, going very fast through the corners. He too will have to get used to riding it in the best way to get good results.

Mir’s goal for 2023 is to adapt quickly to the new bike and from mid-season to be ever closer to the podium. 

As a young driver Joan Mir promises to bring some freshness to the new team. Marc and Joan chatted a lot at the end of the tests sharing important information to go in the same direction; He says: “We want to take the correct way together, and in this case, we were chatting about this.”
